Starter Macros

Uses 003 Get Track List to collect every inactive track, then passes those track names to 092 Set Track Hidden State. If no inactive tracks are found, the macro makes no change. Usage: 1. Open the Pro Tools session you want to clean up. 2. Run the macro. 3. Every inactive track is hidden; active tracks are left alone. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Uses 069 Get Memory Locations to collect track-marker numbers on selected tracks inside the current timeline selection. A Keyboard Maestro For Each loop sends each number to 068A Convert Marker Type and converts it to a Main Ruler marker. Pro Tools performs one conversion per marker rather than one atomic batch. Usage: 1. Select the marker tracks that contain the markers. 2. Make a timeline selection around the markers to move. 3. Run the macro. 4. The matching track markers are converted to Main Ruler markers. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Prompts for a label, optional color index, and optional comments, then uses 071A Create Track Memory Location to create a marker at the playhead on exactly one selected track. It uses the next available memory-location number. Usage: 1. Select exactly one Pro Tools track. 2. Put the playhead where the marker should be created. 3. Run the macro and enter the label. 4. Optionally enter a color index and comments. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Uses 124B Spot Selected Clip List Files To Timestamp with the selected destination track, Original Timestamp, Start anchor, and Auto grouping. This is the only starter example that uses the 124 family. Usage: 1. In the Pro Tools Clip List, select the whole-file media to spot. 2. Select exactly one matching-format audio track. 3. Run the macro. 4. PTMaestro validates the selection and places the files at their embedded original timestamps. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Captures every track’s mute and solo state as the Last Snapshot, then clears all mutes and solos. The saved snapshot can be restored later with 085B Mute/Solo Snapshot Restore. Usage: 1. Run the macro and confirm Capture and Clear. 2. PTMaestro stores the current mute/solo state and clears it. 3. If needed, run 085B Mute/Solo Snapshot Restore with Last Snapshot to restore the captured state. Requires Pro Tools 2024.6 or newer. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Selects every clip on exactly one selected track and applies a named fade preset with automatic bound adjustment. This changes every clip on the selected track, not only clips that were selected before the macro ran. Usage: 1. Select exactly one audio track in Pro Tools. 2. Run the macro. 3. Enter the exact name of a fade preset available in the session. 4. PTMaestro selects all clips on that track and applies the preset. Requires Pro Tools 2022.12 or newer. Test it on a copy of the session first.

Performs a case-insensitive Contains replacement across every selected track name and displays the Full JSON result. Usage: 1. Select the tracks to rename. 2. Run the macro. 3. Enter the text to find and its replacement. 4. Review the Full JSON result after PTMaestro renames the matching tracks. Requires Pro Tools 2022.12 or newer. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

Experimental polling example. Running the macro manually toggles a watcher that colors newly selected tracks with color index 5 while Pro Tools is frontmost. Polling reads Pro Tools state, but the callback changes the session. Test on a copy first. Usage: 1. Run the macro once to enable watcher takeone-example-selected-track-color. 2. Select or add one or more tracks in Pro Tools. 3. PTMaestro assigns color index 5 to the current selected tracks. 4. Run the macro manually again to disable its watcher. Edit the 153 Set Track Color action to use another index. Requires Pro Tools 2025.10 or newer.

Experimental polling example. Running the macro manually toggles a watcher that runs 018 Save Session when the transport enters Stop while Pro Tools is frontmost. It reacts to the transition and does not repeatedly save while transport remains stopped. Test on a copy first. Usage: 1. Run the macro once to enable watcher takeone-example-auto-save-on-stop. 2. Start and then stop transport in Pro Tools. 3. PTMaestro saves the session when transport enters Stop. 4. Run the macro manually again to disable its watcher. Requires Pro Tools 2022.12 or newer.

Moves every marker whose name contains a keyword from one named marker ruler to another, without depending on ruler order. Usage: 1. Import the macro and make sure the current PTMaestro actions are installed. 2. Run it and enter the exact source ruler name, the marker-name keyword, and the exact destination ruler name. 3. PTMaestro collects all case-insensitive keyword matches on that source ruler, then moves each marker to the destination ruler. Named rulers require Pro Tools 2025.06 or newer. An audio track with the same name will not collide because PTMaestro also checks the marker location type. Do not use a custom ruler named Markers; public PTSL cannot safely distinguish that name from the Main Ruler in Pro Tools 25.10. The move is not atomic, so if a later marker fails, earlier markers remain moved.

Select all source tracks that contain the track markers. 2. Run the macro and enter the marker-name keyword plus the exact destination ruler name. 3. PTMaestro collects every case-insensitive keyword match on those selected tracks, then moves each marker to the named ruler. Named-ruler destinations require Pro Tools 2025.06 or newer. The search covers the selected tracks across the session; it is not limited to the current timeline selection. Do not use a custom ruler named Markers because public PTSL cannot safely distinguish that name from the Main Ruler in Pro Tools 25.10. The move is not atomic, so if a later marker fails, earlier markers remain moved.

Prompts for a new label plus optional comments and color index, then updates the last marker successfully created through PTMaestro. This is useful as a separate shortcut: drop a marker immediately, then label it later. Usage: 1. Create a marker with PTMaestro 071 or 071A in the current Pro Tools session. 2. Run this macro. 3. Enter the new marker label and, if wanted, comments or a Pro Tools color index. 4. PTMaestro edits that exact marker using Target By = Last Created by PTMaestro. Blank comments and color preserve their existing values. This does not guess the last marker created manually in Pro Tools. It also fails safely if the saved marker belongs to another session or has been deleted. Main-ruler creation requires Pro Tools 2023.06+, track markers require 2023.12+, and named-ruler markers require 2025.06+.

Prompts for a duration, reads the current Out Point with 082 Get Timeline Selection, calculates the extended location with 120 Add Length To Location, and sends only the new Out Point to 081 Set Timeline Selection. The In Point and other selection fields stay unchanged. Usage: 1. Make a timeline selection in Pro Tools. 2. Run the macro and enter an amount such as 12 frames, 1.5 seconds, 00:00:10:00, 1:02.500, 12+08, or 2|0|000. 3. The Out Point moves later by that amount. The macro has no trigger, so assign your own hotkey after importing it.

A simple Capture and Restore pair for mute/solo snapshots with no Keyboard Maestro variables or JSON setup. How to use: 1. Run Capture before changing any mutes or solos. 2. Make the temporary mute and solo changes you need. 3. Run Restore when you want the original states back. Capture saves PTMaestro's Last Captured Snapshot internally. Restore reads it directly, restores both mute and solo state, and verifies the result. The macros ship without triggers, so assign your preferred hotkeys after importing them.
